Space Mission Design For Mars Sample Return

Space Mission Design a tale of dreams that were systematically weaved to make a piece of realizable system.

What is our dream!

We want to bring a sample from Mars, by the time we hit our 40's.

Technically refined: To bring back a 500 gram sample from the Surface of Mars by 2035.

So here is the story, we have an Orbiter which is a transport vehicle for a rover to Mars. The Rover has a drill system to excavate a sample from the surface of Mars. The sample collected is placed with a dear friend called MAV - Mars Ascent Vehicle, which will shoot from the surface of Mars to the Orbit of Orbiter stationed in there. The Orbiter will capture the MAV, which has sample capsule in it, and fire itself up back to the Earth and re-enter the Earth and land softly.

12 Phases:
Phase 1: Launch into an Earth Orbit.
Phase 2: Inject into an Earth Mars Trajectory.
Phase 3: Earth - Mars Transfer Trajectory.
Phase 4: Injecting into Mars orbit.
Phase 5: Mars Orbital Reconnaissance.
Phase 6: Entry, Decent and Landing at Mars.
Phase 7: Sample Collection by Rover.
Phase 8: Mars Ascent Vehicle Launch.
Phase 9: Capsule Capture by Orbiter.
Phase 10: Mars Orbital Escape.
Phase 11: Mars - Earth Transit Trajectory.
Phase 12: Earth Re - Entry and Soft Touchdown.
